RC Tools I Recommend

Tweezers

Screw fell into the steering assembly again? There are a lot of annoying situations with screws or other small parts in RC that are made easier with a good pair of tweezers. There's many good ones to choose from, get at least one pair that suits you and the kind of vehicle you have.

Hobby Knife

I've used the standard knurled metal hobby knives for many years. However, this year I picked up an Alfa AK-4 and have been very impressed. It's weighted to feel just right in the hand, and it's got nubs on the cap and knife both to prevent it from rolling away.

Car Stands

The important thing is to get one big enough for your car. I have 2x of the 1:10 and 1x of the 1:8/truck Duratrax stands and 1x Ecopower. Ecopower has an 8-position ratcheting rotation mechanism and no parts tray, and doesn't get as compact for travel, but is nicer for 1:8 shock building.

Soldering Iron

It's hard to hold out very long in RC without having one of these. The new USB-based and power supply-based irons like the Pinecil and TS101 are well-regarded but hobbyists, but I'm still using a Hakko 936. The newer Hakkos are good too, like the FX888.

Hex Drivers

Dynamite makes good ones for the price. I have one where all the bits fit into a handle but the ones with standalone wrenches is good too. If you have a bit more money to spend check out MIP. The Protek TruTorque SL set is good quality but I don't love the handle ergonomics.
